Trip to the Auld Country

“With disadvantages enough to bring him to humility, a Scotsman is one of the proudest things alive.” – Oliver Goldsmith

My bags are packed, the flight information and itineraries are completed and all I have left to do is figure out how luggage for myself and three young fashionable-conscious women will pack into the trunk of my Honda sedan.

Unfortunately there won’t be any posts over the next two weeks as Spring Break is upon us and instead of enjoying some fun in the sun with my girlfriend in the Caribbean, I’ll instead be soaking up the soggy mist and slightly warmer climate of Glasgow, Scotland. Trading snow for cold and dreary rain doesn’t seem like a prosperous outlook, but hopefully by the time I return I’ll have simply experienced spring that much earlier.

With our middle sibling away at teachers college my other sibling & myself have decided to venture across the Atlantic in search of good times, culture and shopping in a family affair. I’ll even take the opportunity to experience the distinct culture of Scotland, Ireland and photograph its beautiful scenery. I’ve promised a friend to dip my foot into the Lochness just in an effort to say that Nessy took a nip at my toes.

I’ll be raising a pint of Younger’s Tartain for Scomac in the auld country (no clue what that means yet) and look forward to a break from the markets as likely nothing will drastically change in the interim. The market is likely to be no more volatile when I’m gone than it has been in the past few months. But at least this time I’ll catch wind of the European markets well before those in North America awake to their trading day.

If I’m late coming back, then it’s likely I’ll have ran into a little trouble with a Scotsman if he asked “Are you American?” and I responded “Are you English?”

    MCM, how did you know?

My first few days here are a little hectic as you can imagine (my credit card is my sisters’ new bestfriend!!!) but I did leave limit orders behind. If time allows I’ll try my best to post what I targeted, but as in August, a friend has access to my overall spreadsheet with specific instructions of what to do if/when we see another big dip.
